As you may be aware, there has been a change in our diocese regarding the grade level for Confirmation. Bishop Deshotel has moved the Confirmation age to the 8th Grade. While the specific approach may vary among different Church parishes, the adjustment will require Sacred Heart in Broussard to confirm students in the upper grades first. All families participating in the Confirmation process must be registered parishioners of Sacred Heart of Jesus, Broussard.

All those to be confirmed must participate in our video sessions called “The Search” through formed.org. This program consists of 7 sessions and a day retreat. The Diocese requires a retreat to be confirmed. The sessions will consist in food, fellowship, a short video presentation, small group discussion, and prayer. Since this time commitment is very practical, our expectations are that you would make this a top priority in your schedule and not ask to be absent for weekly sessions or retreat.
All confirmation candidates are also strongly encouraged to participate in our Life Teen program, which takes place after most 5:00pm Sunday Masses. These Life Nights offer a meal and address relevant topics in a Catholic context. Life Nights are opportunities for your teen to grow in holiness and pave the way for them to have a lifelong relationship with Christ. For more information about Sacred Heart Life Teen, click here.

Please note the following about sponsor eligibility:

Be not less than sixteen years of age.
Be a Catholic who has received the Sacraments of Baptism, Eucharist and Confirmation.

If the sponsor is married, he/she must be in a valid marriage recognized by the Church.

-
The confirmation ceremony will take place at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church. Modest attire for the ceremony is required including suit and tie for guys and covered shoulders and knee-length dress/skirts for ladies.
