Based on the Revised Standard Version-Catholic Edition, this volume leads readers through a penetrating study of the Letters of St. James, St. Peter, and St. Jude, using the biblical text itself and the Church's own guidelines for understanding the Bible. Ample notes accompany each page, providing fresh insights and commentary by renowned Bible teacher Curtis Mitch, as well as time-tested interpretations from the Fathers of the Church. These helpful study notes make explicit what the Letters of St. James, St. Peter, and St. Jude often assume. Or they provide rich historical, cultural, geographical, or theological information pertinent to the Letters--information that bridges the distance between the biblical world and our own.

The Ignatius Study Bible also includes Topical Essays, Word Studies, and Charts. The Topical Essays explore the major themes of the Letters of St. James, St. Peter, and St. Jude, often relating them to the doctrines of the Church. The Word Studies explain the background to important Bible terms, while the Charts summarize crucial biblical information at a glance.

Cultivate a Rich and Lasting Prayer Life

You know prayer is important but still find it challenging. Perhaps it’s hard to find time, or you’re unsure what to do when you pray. Or maybe you feel discouraged by your weaknesses and your inability to overcome them.

If you have any of these feelings, you are not alone. Many of the saints struggled in prayer. They were like us. But each time they fell, they got up again and learned to rely more on God’s grace.

What God did in the lives of countless saints, he wants to do in the lives of ordinary people like us. And that’s what this study is about: the journey of prayer God wants to take us on.

(“They devoted themselves to the teaching of the apostles and to fellowship, to the breaking of the bread and to the prayers.”) This program evangelizes its members in small faith communities the way Jesus did. Members meet weekly to reflect upon and discuss the Sunday Scripture readings following an unparalleled spiritual process. The rich content is filled with scriptural passages motivating spiritual growth, love for Jesus, and His word.
