Entrance Hymn: O Come O Come Emmanuel
O come, O come, Emmanuel and ransom captive Israel, that mourns in lonely exile here until the son of God appear.
(Refrain) Rejoice! Rejoice! Emmanuel shall come to thee, O Israel.
O come, thou wisdom from on high, who ord’rest all thing mightily; To us the path of knowledge show, and teach us in her ways to go. (To Refrain)
O come, O come, thou Lord of might, who to thy tribes on Sinai’s height in ancient time didst give the law, in cloud and majesty and awe. (To Refrain)
Offertory Hymn: The King Shall Come
The King shall come when morning dawns, And light triumphant breaks; When beauty gilds the eastern hills, And life to joy awakes.
Not as of old, a little child To bear, and fight, and die, But crowned with glory like the sun, That lights the morning sky.
Oh, brighter than the rising morn, When He, victorious, rose, And left the lonesome place of death, Despite the rage of foes.
Oh, brighter than that glorious morn, Shall this fair morning be, When Christ, our King, in beauty comes, And we His face shall see!
The King shall come when morning dawns, And light and beauty brings: Hail, Christ the Lord! Thy people pray, Come quickly, King of kings!
Communion Hymn: Christ Be Our Light
Longing for light, we wait in darkness. Longing for truth, we turn to you. Make us your own, your holy people, Light for the world to see.
(Refrain) Christ, be our light! Shine in our hearts. Shine through the darkness. Christ, be our light! Shine in your church gathered today.
Longing for peace, our world is troubled. Longing for hope, many despair. Your word alone has pow'r to save us. Make us your living voice. (To Refrain)
Longing for food, many are hungry. Longing for water, many still thirst. Make us your bread, broken for others, Shared until all are fed. (To Refrain)
Longing for shelter, many are homeless. Longing for warmth, many are cold. Make us your building, sheltering others, Walls made of living stone. (To Refrain)
Many the gifts, many the people, Many the hearts that yearn to belong. Let us be servants to one another, Making your kingdom come. (To Refrain)
Recessional Hymn: The Advent of our King
The advent of our King our thoughts must now employ; Then let us meet him on the road with songs of holy joy.
The coeternal son a maiden’s offspring see; A servant’s form Christ put-teth on, to set his people free.
In glory from his throne again will Christ descend, and summon all who are his own to joys that never end.
Our joyful praises sing to Christ, who set us free; like tribute to the Father bring, and holy ghost, to thee.
