Stations of the Cross

Fourteen paintings by Robert Dafford are displayed in Sacred Heart Church depicting the Stations of the Cross. The first one is displayed over the left side door (near the graveyard). The last one is displayed over the right side door (near the rectory). Although the paintings are not the original copper-plated ones, they depict the exact same drawings as the originals. The second and thirteenth stations were made narrower to fit in Sacred Heart Church.

In 1906, Mr. Jos. P. Breaux and his wife Cecilia Broussard donated $500 for a beautiful set of Stations of the Cross. These paintings were made in Kevelaer, Germany and executed on copper plates. The Stations were canonically erected by the permission of the administrator of the diocese, Sede Vacante, Msgr. G. A. Rouxel on Septuagesima Sunday, February 11, 1906.
