As our parish transitioned from celebrating Confirmation in 11th grade to 8th grade, we temporarily offered a spring preparation semester to help accommodate the updated diocesan age. From the beginning, this was intended to be a temporary transition.
Beginning this year, we are returning to a single semester of Confirmation preparation, which will take place each fall only. -

Edge:
6th - 8th Grade
Edge is a middle school faith formation program designed to help 6th, 7th, and 8th graders encounter Jesus, build meaningful friendships, and grow in their understanding of the Catholic faith. Through engaging teachings, games, small-group discussions, and prayer, students discover God's love and learn how to make their faith their own.
Each week explores a new topic that helps middle schoolers better understand their faith and their place in God's story. Along the way, they are encouraged to grow in virtue, deepen their relationship with Christ, and build a strong foundation for a lifetime of discipleship.

8th Grade
Our Teen Confirmation program invites 8th graders to deepen their relationship with Jesus and open their hearts to the Holy Spirit. Through prayer, small groups, and the witness of faithful mentors, candidates learn to follow Christ in their daily lives and build friendships rooted in faith.
As they prepare to receive the Sacrament of Confirmation, candidates come to understand that Confirmation is more than a milestone. It is an intentional “yes” to the Holy Spirit, who gives them the courage and strength to live as disciples of Christ. We pray that this journey helps them continue growing in wisdom, grace, joy, and a lifelong relationship with the Lord.

Please have your Baptismal Certificate available when registering your candidate.

All those to be confirmed must participate in our complete Confirmation program. This program consists of 9 evening sessions and a day retreat. The Diocese requires a retreat to be confirmed. The sessions will consist of food, fellowship, formation, small group discussion, and prayer.
Since this time commitment is very practical, our expectations are that you would make this a top priority in your schedule and not ask to be absent for weekly sessions or retreat. -
Please note the following about sponsor eligibility:
The person must be suitable for this role and have the intention of fulfilling it.
Be not less than sixteen years of age.
Be a Catholic who has received the Sacraments of Baptism, Eucharist and Confirmation.
Is not the father or mother of the person being confirmed, and is attending Mass on a regular basis.
If the sponsor is married, he/she must be in a valid marriage recognized by the Church.
Ideally, one of the candidate’s baptismal sponsors would be selected, though this is not required. Only one sponsor is to be selected.

The confirmation ceremony will take place at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church. Modest attire for the ceremony is required, including button-down and slacks for guys and covered shoulders and knee-length dress/skirts for ladies.

All confirmation candidates are encouraged to participate in our Edge program before and after their preparation. Edge events address relevant topics in a Catholic context and provide an opportunity for your candidate to grow in holiness and pave the way for him/her to have a lifelong relationship with Christ. Edge is open to all 6th-8th grade students!
