As we enter the sacred season of Advent, we begin a grace-filled journey of expectation and hope. Advent invites us to slow down, to prepare our hearts, and to welcome Jesus, the One who comes to bring light into every corner of our lives. In these four weeks leading to Christmas, the Church calls us to watchfulness, prayer, and renewed openness to the Holy Spirit.
Join Us on the Journey
We invite you and your family to enter this season with us—in prayer, reflection, and acts of love. May these weeks draw us closer to the Heart of Jesus and awaken within us the joy of His coming.

The Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception | A Holy Day of Obligation
As you plan to attend Mass in celebration of the Solemnity, we hope you will join us at Sacred Heart. It is important to plan to attend Sunday Mass and this holy day of obligation separately to fully participate in both sacred celebrations.
Celebrating one Mass on Sunday will not fulfill both obligations.
St. Cecilia School’s Live Nativity
This year, the school’s Live Nativity production will be featured in the city of Broussard’s Noel Broussard Tour of Homes on Thursday, December 11, at 6PM & 6:30PM.
Please note: The Live Nativity will take place along Main Street, instead of in the SCS Carline. A ticket is not necessary to attend the production, but will be required for the other Noel Broussard Tour of Homes stops.
Christian Charities Christmas Food Drive
From November 8th through December 7th, non-perishable donations can be dropped off in the hallway of the Parish Life Center. Donation bags for collection are available at the Welcome desk located in the Church narthex.
On December 13th, Christmas basket recipients will receive a voucher for a turkey and fresh fruit. If you would like to support needy families, you can contribute by making a payment to Sacred Heart and writing Christian Charities in the memo line.
Christian Charities Angel Tree Drive
Our parish family is helping make Christmas brighter for children in our community through an Angel Tree Gift Drive. Families, small groups, and individuals are invited to “adopt” a child and fulfill their Christmas wish. Angel Tree tags will be available in the Parish Office, Nov. 10–Dec. 08, and wrapped gifts with tags attached should be returned by Dec. 10.
Deliver Christian Charities Christmas Baskets
We are looking for groups of volunteers (entire families, couples, groups of friends, etc.) to help deliver the Christmas Food Baskets and Angel Tree Donations. Groups are encouraged to visit, pray with, and hand-deliver the Christmas Baskets on Saturday morning, December 13th.
If you are interested in serving in this way, volunteers will gather at 8:00AM in the St. Cecilia Gym for prayer, instruction, and preparation. Please register here.
Decorate the Church for Christmas
Join us in spreading the joy of Christmas at Sacred Heart Church on Saturday, December 20, from 9AM - 12PM. We invite volunteers of all ages to help us decorate and clean our beloved church in preparation to celebrate the birth of our Savior. Please register here.
A heartfelt thank you to everyone who contributes to making our parish shine so beautifully during this special time of year!
Advent’s Meaning and Purpose:
Advent is a time to reflect on the coming of Jesus, both as a newborn in Bethlehem and as our King in the fullness of time. This season invites us to awaken to God's presence in our lives, renewing our faith, and embracing the light and peace that Christ brings into the world.
Advent Observances and Practices:
During Advent, Catholics are encouraged to engage in practices that foster spiritual renewal and prepare our hearts for Christmas. These include:
Prayer and Reflection
Almsgiving and Acts of Kindness
Sacrament of Reconciliation
Catholics also light the Advent wreath, a cherished tradition symbolizing the light of Christ coming into the world. Each candle represents the hope, peace, joy, and love we are called to embrace and share with others.
Christmas and the Joy of Christ’s Birth:
Advent culminates with the celebration of Christmas, a time of joy as we remember the miracle of the Incarnation—God becoming man to dwell among us. Through the Christmas liturgies and celebrations, we rejoice in the gift of salvation and the promise of eternal life brought to us through Jesus.
